Hypnosis
How does hypnosis actually work?
Hypnosis begins to work when a person is processing information on a subconscious level instead of conscious level. The conscious mind is very judgmental and the unconscious is more accepting and able to believe suggestions during hypnosis.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
YES! Through out your day, you are hypnotized and don’t realize it. When you driving your can “zone out” and be consciously unaware of your surroundings. This is because driving is a normal exercise and can be taken over by the subconscious instantly. This is often referred to as highway hypnosis. Researchers have found that we go into some state of hypnosis about every 7 minutes. Hypnosis is also at work, playing a video game, when you read a book or watch a movie.
How does someone stay stuck in Hypnosis?
This depends on the style of hypnosis being used. If it’s therapeutic hypnosis used to remove a bad habit like smoking or weight problems, the suggestions last permanently. If it’s stage hypnosis, the effects are always temporary because the suggestion is very bizarre and the subconscious mind will never hold onto crazy, strange ideas very long.
